Vendome Memorial

Due to a fire which took place at the Vendome Hotel in 1972, a memorial was built in honor of all the firefighters who lost their lives – nine to be exact.  It was dedicated in June of 1997 and is still a popular memorial, and tourist, attraction.  It consists of a black granite, engraved, wall with a bronze firefighter helmet and coat.  The honored firefighter’s names are also inscribed in the wall, in addition to quotes and a timeline of events.  It sits across from the old Vendome Hotel building, which has since be converted into residences.
